Gymnastics & Skills

For the purpose of registration, an athlete is considered an experience/beginner who, at the time of registration for online qualifications, does not have all the skills and has only recently approached this discipline

1.UPPER (2P)
Involvement of the upper limb with two points of contact of the athlete with the bar or equipment used.
Two upper points: athletes using two points of contact with the bar or equipment used in training. Any object or tool that connects the athlete to the equipment and replaces the function of the limb is considered a point of contact. For example: straps, elastics, bands, etc.
2. UPPER (1P)
Involvement of the upper limb with a point of contact of the athlete with the bar or equipment being used.
Single Point Upper: Athletes who use a single point of contact with the bar (no straps to replace the limb). Commonly athletes with elbow or brachial plexus amputation.

LOWER (2P)
Lower limb involvement with two points of contact of the athlete with the ground.
Two lower points: athletes who have two points of contact with the ground. Commonly athletes with amputations below the knee, hip, or ankle.
LOWER (1P)
Lower limb involvement with two points of contact of the athlete with the ground.
One point lower: athletes who have only one point of contact with the ground, wear a prosthesis above the knee, or train without a prosthesis. Athletes with double leg amputations will be integrated into this subcategory. Athletes with only one point of contact with the ground may use a box while performing squats and exercises involving hip flexion for safety reasons. This subcategory normally includes those who have an above-knee amputation or a fused knee that does not allow them to perform squats below parallel.

NEURO MAJOR:
This subcategory includes athletes with neurological disabilities in which all 4 limbs are affected by limitations in balance, mobility, and coordination. These are athletes who often have grip difficulties and generally exhibit extreme spasticity. The most common disabilities are cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and autism.

NEURO MINOR:

In this subcategory, neurological conditions affect 1 to 4 limbs. In this case, functional limitation affects only one hemisphere of the body with lack of mobility or balance. The most common conditions in this subcategory are cerebral palsy, brain injury, and multiple sclerosis.

SEATED-I

This subcategory includes people with back, hip, and minor neurological impairments. These are athletes with leg amputations, back problems, or neurological disabilities that prevent them from competing standing up. These athletes must have hip flexors and the ability to stand independently or with crutches.

SEATED-II

It will have the subcategories: Low, High and Multi limb. We will distinguish them as follows:
Low sitting: athletes with only two lower limbs affected by a spinal cord injury. The athlete will have little or no hip flexion. This includes those who can stand or walk but require a lot of assistance to do so. This limitation usually affects the athlete from thoracic vertebra 7 (T-7) to 12 (T-12).
High sitting: athletes with both lower limbs affected by a spinal cord injury, upper amputation, or disability from thoracic vertebra 6 to cervical vertebra 5.
Multi limb: athletes with two affected lower limbs and at least one upper limb with some type of limitation, such as grip limitation. To fall into this subcategory, the core and hip flexors must be affected.
